A 5 metre run of IP65 rated LED strip in warm white or cool white, supplied complete with its 30W driver so there is nothing else to work out. The IP65 rating is the part that matters: it means the strip can go under a kitchen unit, in a bathroom outside the immediate zones, or outdoors under cover, where unrated strip cannot.

Q: Can this LED strip be used outdoors?
A: Yes, it is IP65 rated, which means dust tight and protected against low pressure water jets. That covers outdoor use under an overhang, a soffit or a covered patio. It is not intended to be submerged or to sit where water pools.

Q: Does it come with a driver?
A: Yes. A 30W LED driver is supplied with the 5 metre run, so there is nothing separate to specify or buy. Strip lighting will not run from mains directly, so a driver is always required.

Q: Can I cut it to length?
A: LED strip is designed to be cut, but only at the marked cut points, which are usually every few LEDs. Cutting elsewhere breaks the circuit. Check the markings on the strip before you cut, and remember offcuts need their own connection to work.

Q: Warm white or cool white, which should I choose?
A: Warm white for living areas, bedrooms and anywhere you want a softer look. Cool white for kitchen worktops, garages and workshops where you need to see detail. A common approach in a kitchen is cool white under the units and something warmer overhead.

Q: Is 24W bright enough to light a room?
A: No, and that is the most common misunderstanding about strip. It is designed for accent, task and under cupboard lighting. To light a whole room you need a ceiling fitting or a batten, with strip adding to it rather than replacing it.

Q: Do I need an electrician to fit it?
A: Usually not. The driver plugs in and the strip is self adhesive, so most people fit it themselves. If you want the driver wired into a fixed supply or switched from the wall, that part is work for a registered electrician.
