Electrical Supplies Store, Dublin

Shamrock Electrical is an independent Irish electrical supplies store in Rathcoole, County Dublin. There is a real counter you can walk into, and a full range you can order online with free delivery on every order from the first euro. This page answers the practical questions people ask before making the trip or placing a first order.

Where is your electrical supplies store?

Unit 22, Block 613, Jordanstown Road, Greenogue Business Park, Rathcoole, Co. Dublin, D24 TX98. We are just off the N7 and well positioned for the M50.

Greenogue sits in southwest Dublin, which puts the counter within easy reach of Rathcoole, Citywest, Tallaght, Newcastle, Saggart, Clondalkin and the wider N7 corridor, as well as Kildare and west Wicklow. There is parking on site and you can pull in beside the door, which matters when you are loading. If you are coming from further out, it is worth calling ahead so we can have things ready at the counter.

Can I walk in and buy, or is the counter trade only?

Anyone can walk in and buy. The counter is built around electricians and contractors, but homeowners are welcome and no account is needed to buy.

Most of our weekday morning traffic is trade, collecting before heading to site. Later in the day and on Saturdays it is a much broader mix, including people doing their own house. You will not be turned away and you will not be upsold. If you are unsure what you need, bring a photo of what you are replacing, which is usually faster than describing it.

What can I buy in store that is not on the website?

The trade counter carries cable, trunking, conduit, consumer units, MCBs, RCDs, RCBOs and switchgear. Those lines are counter only and are not sold online.

They are cut, specified or sold by length and quantity in ways that do not work well through a shopping cart, and they often need a short conversation to get right. Call 01 401 9907 or email sales@shamrockelectrical.ie to check what is available and to have it ready for collection. Everything else, lighting, heating, mirrors, sockets and switches, cameras, tools and workwear, is on the website.

Do I need a trade account to buy from you?

No. Anyone can buy at the prices shown on the website. A trade account is only needed if you want trade pricing, which is quoted rather than published.

Website prices are retail and include VAT. If you are buying regularly for work, a trade account is worth having, and you can open a trade account or ask at the counter. First time buyers online get 10 percent off a first order.

What are your opening hours?

Monday to Friday 7am to 5pm, Saturday 9am to 1:30pm, closed Sunday. The 7am weekday opening is deliberate, so electricians can collect before site.

Saturday mornings are the busiest counter hours of the week and tend to be the homeowner and small job crowd. If you need something specific on a Saturday, ring on the Friday.

Do you deliver, and is there a minimum order?

We deliver anywhere in Ireland and delivery is free on every order from the first euro. There is no minimum spend, no threshold and no qualifying amount.

That applies to a single light fitting just as it does to a full order. Orders placed online are dispatched from Rathcoole. If something is needed urgently, collection from the counter is always faster than waiting on a courier, so call and we will tell you honestly which is quicker.

How do I get trade pricing?

Trade pricing is quoted, not published. Call 01 401 9907 or email sales@shamrockelectrical.ie with what you need, or open a trade account for ongoing work.

We do not print trade prices because they depend on the line, the quantity and how regularly you buy, and a single published figure would be misleading for most of those cases. Send a list and you will get a real number back rather than a range.

What does the store stock?

Indoor and outdoor lighting, electric heating, LED and vanity mirrors, sockets and switches, security cameras and doorbells, emergency lighting, tools, workwear and safety gear.

Plus the counter only trade lines above. We have been supplying the Irish market from Rathcoole since 2016 and we would rather tell you straight whether we can source something and how long it will take than promise you it is sitting on a shelf. If it is not something we carry, we will usually know who does.

Are you the same as an electrical wholesaler?

Yes. We operate as both. The counter and trade account side works like a wholesaler, and the website works like a shop, from the same premises and the same stock.

If you are an electrician looking specifically at trade supply, cable, containment and the materials side of the business, the electrical wholesaler page covers that in more detail. If you are buying lighting, heating or mirrors for a home or a premises, the website is the faster route.
