Electric towel rails and bathroom heaters warm a bathroom with no plumbing and no need to run the central heating. Choose a WiFi towel radiator for warm towels and background heat, or a downflow heater for fast heat before a shower, delivered free across Ireland from the first euro.

Do electric towel rails use a lot of electricity?

No. The Titan towel radiator is rated 500W or 750W, costing about 19 or 29 cent an hour at 38.04 cent per kWh.

The maths: 0.5 kW x 38.04 cent is 19.02 cent an hour, and 0.75 kW x 38.04 cent is 28.53 cent an hour. The unit rate is the Electric Ireland 24 hour standard unit rate from 1 July 2026, including VAT. Schedules in the app stop it heating an empty bathroom. The Titan 2kW downflow heater draws 1kW or 2kW, about 38 or 76 cent an hour, but its runback timer switches it off after a short run.

Are electric towel rails worth it?

For most bathrooms, yes. You get warm, dry towels and gentle background heat all year, with no plumbing and no central heating running.

Because an electric towel rail heats on its own circuit, you can have warm towels in summer without the boiler on. That makes it a good fit for en suites, apartments and rental properties. In a large or very cold bathroom a towel rail alone will take the chill off rather than heat the room fast, so pair it with a downflow heater.

What is the best heater for a bathroom?

It depends on the job. A downflow heater gives fast heat before a shower, while a towel radiator gives warm towels and steady background heat.

The Titan 2kW Downflow Bathroom Heater mounts high on the wall, blows warm air down into the room, runs from a pull cord and switches itself off with a runback timer, with 1kW and 2kW settings. The Titan Electric WiFi Towel Radiator is IP24 rated for bathroom use, app controlled and Lot 20 Ecodesign compliant. Never use a standard portable heater in a bathroom; those belong in the portable electric heaters range for other rooms.

What size electric towel rail do I need?

The 500W Titan towel radiator heats bathrooms up to 5 square metres and the 750W model up to 7 square metres, per its specification.

The 500W model measures 580 x 1000 mm and the 750W model 580 x 1320 mm, and both come in white or black. Measure the floor area of the bathroom and pick the model that covers it, sizing up if the room has an outside wall or a large window.

Do I need an electrician to install a bathroom heater?

Yes. Both heaters here are wired into the fixed installation, so a registered electrician should fit them, positioned correctly for the bathroom zones.

The towel radiator is a hardwired bathroom appliance. The downflow heater must be positioned out of reach of the bath or shower in line with the wiring rules, and its pull cord control is part of that arrangement. If you are unsure what a model needs, call us on 01 401 9907 before you order.

Can I control an electric towel rail from my phone?

Yes. The Titan towel radiator connects to the Tuya Smart app over WiFi for schedules and remote control, plus a control panel on the unit.

A landlord lock function stops the settings being tampered with in rental properties and short term lets.
