Mains connectable string lights with a multi function controller, in five colours and three lengths. This is the workhorse set for a house frontage, a garden tree line or a shop window, and the one to choose when you want the option of a slow fade or a steady light rather than being stuck with one or the other.

Eight settings, and it remembers

The controller gives eight settings including steady, fade and chase. The memory function is the part that matters day to day, because the set comes back on at the setting you chose rather than resetting to a fast flash every time the timer fires.

Choosing a length and colour

A typical semi detached frontage takes the 30 metre set. A large detached house or a run of garden trees takes the 50 metre. The 10 metre suits a doorway, a window or a single small tree. On colour, warm white is the safe traditional choice, cool white is brighter and more modern, and red or blue on their own make a strong single colour display that stands out on a street where everyone else is in white.

Q: What are the eight settings?
A: The usual range of steady on, slow fade, chase, waves and combinations of those. Most people set it to steady or slow fade and leave it, which is exactly what the memory function is for.

Q: Will it remember the setting overnight?
A: Yes, that is the memory function. Without it a set resets to the first flash mode every time the power cycles, which is the usual complaint with cheaper lights on a timer.

Q: How many sets can I join?
A: Up to 2400 LEDs in one run, so four of the 500 LED sets or eight of the 300 LED sets, all from one socket.

Q: Can I mix colours in one run?
A: Physically yes, but a run of one colour looks considerably better than a mixed one. If you want two colours, run them as separate lines rather than joining them end to end.

Q: Can I put it on a timer?
A: Yes, and with the memory function it will come back on at your chosen setting. A plug in timer or a WiFi smart plug both work.
