Outdoor Up and Down LED Wall Spot Light, Polycarbonate, Code P1600
An up and down wall spot that throws light in two directions from a single fitting, washing the wall above and below it. It is the standard way to light a porch, a front elevation or a pair of gate pillars without putting a floodlight where people will be walking past it.
Supplied complete with two GU10 LED lamps in warm white, so there is nothing else to buy. The polycarbonate body resists corrosion, which matters on any coastal or exposed site where a metal fitting would pit and stain.
Specification
- Supplied with 2 x GU10 7W LED lamps
- Colour temperature: 3000K warm white
- Voltage: 220 to 240V, 50 to 60Hz
- Maximum lamp rating: 10W LED per lamp
- Body: polycarbonate
- Code: P1600
Where it works
Porches, front and back elevations, gate pillars, garden walls and between windows. Two fittings either side of a door is the usual arrangement. If you are choosing between this and other outdoor fittings, our guide on bulkheads, floodlights and wall lanterns sets out which suits which job.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is an up and down wall light for?
A: It casts light both upward and downward from one fitting, which washes the wall rather than lighting the ground in front of it. The effect suits front elevations, porches and pillars, and it gives presence at a door without the glare of a floodlight.
Q: Does it come with bulbs?
A: Yes. It is supplied with two GU10 7W LED lamps in 3000K warm white, so there is nothing extra to buy. If you replace them later, the maximum is 10W LED per lamp.
Q: Can I put brighter bulbs in it?
A: Up to 10W LED per lamp. Going above the stated maximum risks heat damage to the fitting and the lamp holder, and with LEDs a higher wattage is rarely needed anyway because output per watt is already high.
Q: Is polycarbonate better than metal outdoors?
A: For coastal and exposed sites, generally yes. Polycarbonate does not corrode, whereas metal fittings pit and stain in salt air. Inland and sheltered, either works and it comes down to appearance.
Q: Do I need an electrician to fit it?
A: Yes. This is fixed outdoor wiring and should be installed by a registered electrician on a properly protected circuit.
Q: How high should it be mounted?
A: Around 2 metres, or roughly head height to just above, is usual. Mounted much lower the up light is lost, and much higher the down light spreads too wide to be useful. Keep the cable gland pointing downward so water cannot track in along the cable.
Q: Where can I buy outdoor up and down wall lights in Ireland?
A: Shamrock Electrical stocks up and down wall spots in polycarbonate and metal, with IP44 and IP65 options and coastal friendly versions. We are in Rathcoole, County Dublin, just off the N7, and we deliver free to every county in Ireland on every order with no minimum spend.

Amazing product
I grabbed this twin outdoor socket for our patio and it’s been a game‑changer. Solid build, weatherproof covers keep everything safe even in showers. Perfect for plugging in lights, a radio, or phone charger without trailing cables indoors. Easy to install and blends in well. Makes outdoor hangs so much easier—no more kitchen outlets or extension cords!
Really glad I picked up this patio heater. It kicks out heat straight away and keeps us warm without lighting up the whole garden like a bonfire. Looks great too—nice and modern. We've been able to sit out late in the evenings without freezing. Great buy!
Installed the Advanced 140 black wall-mounted infrared motion detector last week and it’s brilliant. It senses movement instantly and switches the lights on just as I enter the hallway—no fumbling for switches. Sleek black design blends beautifully with our décor, and setup was a breeze. Reliable and discreet, it gives me peace of mind and adds a touch of tech-smart convenience around the house.
I recently swapped to the Triton T90SR 9 kW pumped electric shower and it's been fantastic. The difference is night and day—virtually silent with a smooth, warm flow that’s perfect for our gravity-fed system. Heats up fast and feels modern and reliable. It's made morning showers a calm, enjoyable experience—absolutely worth it!
Really happy with the Triton T90SR Satin. It’s so quiet compared to our last shower, and the water flow is smooth and consistent. Heats up quickly and looks great in the bathroom. Ideal for homes with low water pressure—wish I had upgraded sooner!
