The Optimum ECOSAVE is a mechanical 24-hour multi-tariff timeswitch for controlling 3kW electric immersion heater elements. It lets you heat your hot water during low-tariff (Economy 7 / night rate) periods rather than at peak rates, and gives you a manual boost when you need hot water outside the scheduled times.

Suitable for single, dual or twin immersion heater applications.

Boost function

An adjustable boost gives you 15, 30, 60 or 120 minutes of heating on demand during peak tariff periods — so you're not paying to keep a tank hot all day just in case.

Installation notes

For use in dry rooms only. Do not install in the vicinity of devices which generate inductive discharges, such as motors or transformers. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with I.S. 10101.

Q: Do I need an electrician to install it?
A: Yes. It switches a 3kW immersion element, so it must be wired in by a registered electrician in accordance with I.S. 10101.

Q: Can it be fitted in a hot press or garage?
A: It is for dry rooms only, and must not be installed near motors, transformers or anything else producing inductive discharges. A dry hot press is normally fine — your electrician will confirm the location.

Q: Does it lose its settings in a power cut?
A: No. The quartz movement has a 72 hour running reserve, so the time and programme are held for three days.
