Where it is used
Garden lighting runs, outdoor sockets, shed and garage supplies, pump and sensor connections, and any joint in an unheated space where condensation is likely. The black box disappears against soffits, fencing and dark render, the white against painted walls and soffit boards.
Getting the rating you paid for
An IP65 box only performs to IP65 if the entries are glanded properly and the lid seal is seated and screwed down evenly. A knockout opened and left unglanded drops the whole enclosure to no rating at all.
