Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Where can I buy this electric fly killer in Ireland?
A: This LED fly killer is available from Shamrock Electrical at shamrockelectrical.ie, with free delivery to every county in the Republic of Ireland from the first euro. You can also collect from our store in Greenogue Business Park, Rathcoole, Co. Dublin.
Q: Should I choose the 10W or the 18W model?
A: Choose the 10W for homes, bedrooms, kitchens and small offices. Choose the 18W for larger rooms, open plan areas, cafés or retail spaces. Both cover up to 150 square metres.
Q: How does the fly killer work?
A: It uses UV LED tubes to quietly attract flies and insects, then a 4000V grid deals with them on contact. There are no sprays, chemicals or smells, so it suits kitchens and food prep areas.
Q: Is it safe to use indoors around the home?
A: Yes. It is rated IP20 for indoor use, has a full outer safety mesh around the grid, and a fireproof aluminium alloy and ABS housing. It is chemical free, which makes it a clean option for living and dining spaces.
Q: How do I mount and clean it?
A: You can stand it on a surface or hang it using the included chain. A large removable tray collects the insects so you can empty and wipe it out quickly and hygienically.
Q: Does it cost much to run?
A: No. At 10W or 18W it uses very little electricity, less than a single light bulb, so it can be left on through the day for the cost of a few cent.
Q: Do you deliver the fly killer across Ireland?
A: Yes. We deliver free to every county in the Republic of Ireland, usually within a few working days, and you can also collect from our Rathcoole store.
Q: Is a fly zapper the same as a fly killer?
A: Yes. Fly zapper, fly killer and electric fly killer all describe the same kind of unit: UV light draws flies and insects in, and a charged grid kills them on contact. This one uses UV LED tubes and a 4000V grid.
